Overview
Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) or Physiatry has recently been established (2022) in Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital.
This department comprises an interdisciplinary team of doctors (Physiatrists), nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists, social workers, psychologist, prosthetists and orthotists.
This team works together in maximizing the health along with enhancing and restoring the functional abilities of people with physical impairments or disabilities.
This is the only PMR department in whole Dakshina Kannada district which is providing full-fledged rehabilitation services to the patients.
The department also has various completed & on ongoing research projects in the field of Spinal Cord Injury, Peripheral neuropathy, Cerebral palsy to its credit.

SERVICES
The department offers high quality holistic rehabilitation facilities (both In-patient and Outpatient) for persons with physical/neurological impairments due to conditions such as:
- Neurological rehabilitation: Spinal Cord Injury
- Brain Injury due to trauma and other causes
