Overview
The Department of Surgery offers high-quality, individualized patient care and academic teaching and training. The team consists of highly motivated and experienced academic surgeons, with a keen interest in academic teaching and research. On the clinical front, the department provides daily outpatient services, comprehensive in-patient services, surgical intensive care with round the clock emergency surgical services. The department emphasizes on high levels of surgical safety and competence, with high-quality outcomes, at affordable costs. The clinical services are well supported by specialty departments of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Urology.
On the academic front the department conducts teaching and training for the Bachelor of Medicine and bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program, Bachelor in Dental Sciences (BDS), Bachelor in Physiotherapy (BPT), BSc in Medical Imaging Technology (BSc MIT), and BSc in Anesthesiology and Operation Theatre Technology (BSc A&OTT) and the Master of Surgery (MS) Post-Graduate program. Teaching and training involves traditional techniques such as bed side clinics and lectures, as well as innovative simulation techniques. There is abundant focus on research, with several ongoing international collaborative research projects.

Outpatient Department at Justice K. S Hegde Charitable Hospital runs on all days of the week including Sundays. OPD timings are from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM and on Sundays from 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM.
