Overview
The Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy at KS Hegde Medical Academy was established in the year 1999. The Department of Dermatology offers comprehensive teaching facilities for the medical and allied courses run by the Nitte (Deemed to be University). It is constantly growing to venture the vast opportunities in its field. The Department consists of dedicated staff & enthusiastic residents. Together, the team is committed to patient care by working up of a case, discussions and more efficient management of patients. The consultants & residents cater to the needs of the patients with utmost care & compassion.
OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT:
Outpatient Department at Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital runs on all days of the week including Sundays. OPD timings are from 9.00 AM to 4.30 PM and on Sundays from 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM. The spacious outpatient department of 2,500 sq ft consists of:
- 6 Clinical examination rooms
- Demonstration room for Undergraduates
- Side laboratory
- Minor OT
- Phototherapy Room
- 2 LASER Rooms

- Pigmentary/Vitiligo Clinic - Tuesday and Friday

Speciality Services
Speciality services such as cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, endocrinology and Oncology have specialist consultants are equiped with state of the art Cath Lab, TMT , Holter monitoring, Echocardiography, Endoscopy units, Dialysis unit, EEG, EMG / Nerve conduction/ evoked potentials, Bronchoscopy, PFT and sleep lab.
Other services includes:
- Department is equipped with state of the art LASER machines to provide cosmetic treatments such as permanent hair reduction, acne scar corrections, keloid treatment, skin resurfacing, removal of pigmented lesion and tattoos.
- Along with this other dermatologic and cosmetic procedures such as cryotherapy, electrocautery, radiofrequency, chemical peels and skin resurfacing procedures such as derma rolling and micro dermabrasion are done.
- Platelet Rich plasma (PRP) therapy for hair loss and wound healing, skin grafting procedures, intralesional injections, various dematosurgeries such as nail and vitiligo surgeries are also done in the department.
- Department has specialized Phototherapy treatment techniques like Narrow band UVB phototherapy, PUVA therapy, hand foot phototherapy unit and Excimer light system.
- Diagnostic procedures such as skin biopsies, Patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis is done here.
